Finished Measurements: This stunning project boasts an impressive wingspan of 70” (178 cm) and a height of 22” (56 cm) at the center spine, ensuring it makes a statement wherever it’s displayed. All measurements are taken after careful blocking to achieve the perfect shape.

Yarn Required: You will need approximately 900 yards (823 m) of sport weight yarn to bring this beautiful pattern to life. We recommend using 3 skeins of Cascade Yarns Venezia Sport, which features a luxurious blend of 70% Merino wool and 30% silk, with each skein containing 307 yards (281 m) in 100 g. The color #195 Navy is particularly stunning for this project. Please note that for my sample, I used almost all of the three skeins, so to ensure you have enough yarn to complete your masterpiece without interruption, I highly recommend purchasing a fourth skein.

Recommended Needles: To achieve the best results, use a size US 6 (4 mm) circular needle that is 32” (80 cm) long, or choose a needle size that helps you obtain the correct gauge. While achieving gauge isn’t critical for this project, be aware that a different gauge can affect both the final size of your work and the total yardage used.

Notions Needed: Don't forget to gather your essential tools for this project, including stitch markers, a cable needle, a tapestry needle for finishing, waste yarn for the Provisional Cast On technique, and a crochet hook in size G (4 mm) to assist with any additional details.

Gauge Information: To ensure your finished piece matches the intended size, aim for a gauge of 16 stitches and 36 rows per 4” (10 cm) knit in Garter stitch using size US 6 (4 mm) needles, after blocking. Proper gauge is crucial for the integrity of the design.

This project is perfect for knitters looking to create a unique and eye-catching piece that combines beautiful yarn and intricate techniques. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crafter, you’ll find joy in crafting this stunning item. So gather your materials, check your gauge, and dive into this exciting knitting adventure!
